Daniel Dominguez is a Sydney-based figurative sculptor specialising in bronze portraiture and public and private commissions. For over 30 years he has battled away in the ancient art of figurative sculpture, producing portraits and commemorative works for schools, universities, public institutions and private collectors throughout Australia.

His portraits range from miniature figures of Australian prime ministers to life-size commemorative sculptures and larger-than-life bronze figures. His most recent bust of Winston Churchill in his Garter Robes received the 2026 Hunters Hill Regional Art Prize. His work seeks to capture something beyond mere resemblance, to present an encounter with personality.

For Daniel, portrait sculpture is biography without words. The process of sculpture reveals a deeper reality that could not have been fully understood otherwise. What emerges is a new insight into the object we are most familiar with, the one thing on earth we can connect with more than any other: the human head, in all its breadth and dignity, immortalised in bronze.

Alongside his sculpture, Daniel produces original drawings, paintings and selected limited-edition works, including collections devoted to cricket, rowing and European architecture. He also presents lectures and workshops exploring artistic practice, drawing and the relationship between art and meaning.
